Hi, I’d like to buy my first 3d printer and I was looking for low budget ones

So I’ve come across the Anet A8 and Tevo Tarantula. The first one seems to be the most popular and supported by community, but Tevo Tarantula’s prints look better quality.
Which one would you suggest me?

I would suggest the a8. There is far more support for it. And the print quality is close to a makerbot if you ajust it right

Hello,

I would definitely recommend the Anet A8. The quality may not be as good at normal resolution, but at a higher res it’s just as good. Also it’s very easy to assemble and use. The only thing is that it’s kind of confusing in which way the parts orient when assembling(I had to reassemble many part b/c I put them on backwards), just watch out for that and your good. However when printing if you want a very hi res print, use a slow speed (30mm/s) otherwise 60 mm/s is fine.

Also there are many more printable upgrades for the Anet a8. You should definitely print a new cooling fan housing as the one that it comes with is very bad.

We had a customer complaining about the Tarantulas unstable printing bed. He said it is not supported properly and wobbles a lot. He also wanted to fit a second motor for the z-axis for same reasons, so he must have not be very happy with the mechanics of the Tarantula.
However we have no experience with the Anet A8.

I agree, however I just hate compare it to a Makerbot because of how proprietary it is. I think it is better to compare it to a the Ultimaker Original Plus because it is similar quality and you have to assemble it( but $800 cheaper).

I can tell you that on the Anet A8 there is no stability problems, and there are 2 z-axis motors.

Doesn’t seem to be a lot in the choice either way, but ANET use a custom board, and don’t release the firmware. If you care, that makes enough of a difference, I think.

Hi

If you upgrade Tevo Tarantula frame I guess it will be better.

Tevo Black Widow is not more stabel then A8 frame.

Same it true for the Anet A8

Use skynet firmware on A8

So what did you go with? What are your opinions about what you go? Good experience?
