Hi guys,

I have a creatbot dh which I have had for 3 months and with around 450 hours of print time on. I have a problem where one of the plugs that connects the heated bed to the main loom has started to melt, and as a result has fused together. Has any one else had this happen and if so have you found a solution that has fixed it from happening again.

This has probably come about by a “hot connection” issue. A hot connection is one with built in resistance caused by insufficient electrical contact. The likely culprit will be a bad crimp on a contact in the connector. I’d advocate clipping the melted connector off and then getting a heavy duty DC connector like the ones used in RC cars etc. They are buff colored and have two bullet type pins and sockets. The ones I’ve seen are all solder types and I think that would be better than a screw terminal or a crimp.

Hi mate. I have had this problem with my printer. Go and by a new plug now. It becomes a fire danger very quickly especially if the plastic has already started to melt.

Once you get a new plug make sure the wires are all going the right direction and the loom is not being included in the metal when it is being pitched together.

You currently have a short circuit and it will either damage your printer or break it. It is an easy fix and any good electrical store will have the piece you are looking for.

Hi since you fixed the issue with the plug melting on the printers heated heat has it reaccured?

It did happen again but it was my error in how I reattached the plug. I have since fixed it and have no problems.
