… But does under basically any other circumstances. If I manually extrude (by hand or with the menu option) it works. Disassembled and cleaned the extruder, nozzle (might do it again, better, just to be sure), re-zeroed the bed. Redid it again because I thought it might be too tight. If I push the filament through while it’s printing the print appears to adhere great and the print goes ok, but I can’t do that for prints longer than a few minutes running as tests.

I’m running out of ideas and need your help. The machine ran fine for the year or so I’ve had it so far. It stopped a few months ago and I just hadn’t had time to spend investigating.

Is it stripping the filament?

Doesn’t seem to be unless I just let it sit.

Check the teeth of your extruder to see is there is debris packed between them. If the teeth are clear, it is likely a problem with your extruder stepper motor. Often stepper motors will loose power over a long period of time when they are in the process of burning out. Does it get hot over long prints? Can you see or hear it skipping during a print?

Cleaned out the teeth, they had some debris but weren’t all clogged. When the extruder is manually ordered to extrude it does; it’s just when printing that it doesn’t seem to work. I haven’t been able to see/hear any issues.

I’m looking into replacing the PTFE tube, possibly with an all-metal one, as that was suggested elsewhere.

Again, does the stepper motor get hot during long prints? Steppers will loose torque power if they get too hot, which could cause what you are seeing. It will work fine while it is cold, but then heat up over long use and loose power. If that is the case, it is a sign that your stepper is burning out.

Replacing the PTFE tube may help, but the symptoms you have listed don’t correlate with a bad liner. With a bad PTFE liner, you would see constant jamming and increased resistance to extruding plastic all throughout the printing process, not only after an extended period of time.

Ah, see I don’t know it the stepper gets hot on long prints because I can’t run prints - filament doesn’t extrude AT ALL while printing. It does extrude when unloaded/forced to though.

I know the stepper has gotten hot on long prints before, so I’ll look at that too. Testing it dissassembled today it seemed to activate fine.

Did you happen to figure out what caused this, cause the exact same thing happened to me today. After an over night 8 hour print, i go to start it again this morning and nada. I stop the print, and command it to extrude some filament which it does without problem, so i figure it’s a fluke and start another print. Nope, nothing being extruded. Maybe its the new gcode, so I try one I know has worked in the past and nothing. No clicking or anything coming from the extruder. Haven’t had a chance to disassemble it yet, just looking for some insight. Thanks!

Been talking with support since posting the OP, they seem to agree with the concensus here that the stepper is burned out. We’ll see if they send me the parts or not, and then I should know. I’m fairly confident that is the issue at this point.

My gut says your right, but just seems weird. It finished an 8+ hour print flawlessly and then burned out? I know that the printer stayed on for a few hours after finishing, but the stepper fan does stay on the whole time keeping it cool, and if its not actually spinning it shouldn’t be heating up… dunno. Thanks in advance for letting me know what you find out. This is just bad timing too, I was getting ready to sell this printer in favor of a larger one. Cant sell a broken printer… >:(
