@Creastudiostore recently had a post about an Italian filament company that designed their spools so they can be used as parts for some cool projects. I burn through a lot of filament (mostly from colorfabb) and my collection of empty spools is turning into a mountain. I’m hoping to spark discussion on two topics:
1. Are any filament companies interested in recycling/reusing these spools? Is it even practical/worth it? I know 3dhubs has a relationship with colorfabb and it would be really cool if they were interested in offering a discount(even if is very small) or even just cover the shipping of sending these spools back to them for recycling. I understand shipping empty spools from USA to Netherlands is probably a wash at best but maybe there is even a more local start up filament company that might have a use for them.
2. Does anyone have any clever/interesting uses for these things?

Hello, I know this is a long shot since the post was 8months ago. However, if you still have a lot of colorfabb clear spools I have been looking around for some to rewind my filament on. Basically I’m running out of space and need narrower spools to fit filament in my cabinet.

Any chance you’d be willing to send some my way?
