I have a Wanhao Duplicator i3, I start a print and it prints really well but around hmm i don’t know an hour and half into a print it stops exstruding material and leaves a massive gap then start exstruding again after another 20 or so layers. Anyway round this? its becoming a real problem

Hi Robert,

It might be that the extruder fan is not on all the time. You can control this on the LCD screen or through Cura.

Also best is to have the filament on top and not as standard on the controller unit. This results in better feed.

It can be in settings in the software as well.

We have sold already quite some printers and none of our customers so far have reported issues.

At this stage I do not have the Duplicator I3 set up in our office, but it’s in a remote show room. If you like you can send us the STL file and the Gcode (info@3Dfutura.be), I will ask to print it and see if the issue can be replicated.

Best Regards

Dirk

It sounds like your extruder is overheating, is your fan working? What is the temp of the extruder when it stops. If you have taken it apart or it may have gotten lose from the heat sync. I would check those out, if it’s a dual extruder try the other side and see if that happens.
