Hey Guys,

I have a client which who has sent me a *.x_t file, which I know is a Parasolid file…So I uploaded the file to babel3d.com and have converted the file to STL.

When I open it with Cura, I can right click and split the files. So there is a top part and bottom part…

How can I save these STL files individually?

Can cura save to *.x3g, which my flashforge creator pro will read?

Any advice greatly appreciated…

Thanks a bunch!

Hey Akshay,

I think the splitting feature in Cura only allows you to slice the separate parts and export the gcode (or x3g), but not save the split stl’s. However there should be a plugin for Cura (Google is your friend) that allows export in x3g from Cura.

Alternatively, if you really want the separate stl’s, try the free version of netfabb. This software has some pretty extensive stl-editing capabilities.

Hope that helps.

Sincerely,

Jonas

I’ve used TinkerCAD to split and save STL’s. It’s not very advanced, but if it’s a simple centerline split or something you can eyeball where you want to cut it, it works and it’s simple and easy…

You can also use the free online Crobics modelling tool (www.crobics.com).

Open the .stl file. Use the “saw” tool to remove one part. Save the result and redo the same action to remove other parts.

Hey thanks for the information. I’ve been using Netfabb which does the job perfectly, but will surely check out your recommendation.

Cheers!
