Hi everyone,

Last week I introduced Tio, a new technology platform to move and program any 3D printed object using your smartphone or tablet. We have launched it on kickstarter.

Today I want to show you exactly how it works. No need for screws, soldering, wires, knowledge of electronics nor engineering. It couldn’t be easier.

I have put a quick video together to demonstrate the technology. Check it out below and let me know what you think. Thanks

In a nutshell, Tio is the kit anyone can use to easily animate toys, gadgets and 3D prints. At the kit’s core is the Tio block: a wireless motorised building block with built-in RGB LEDs. This easily attaches to 3D prints with simple magnetic mounts. The block comes with magnetic accessories including wheels, pulleys and adapters to lift, rotate, flap, twirl and drive your 3D prints.

The free iOS and Android app communicates wirelessly with the prints to customise and program them. Coding is possible but not required.

The app can control multiple blocks simultaneously and changes motor speed and direction as well as LED colours and patterns. The programming mode allows you to record and play back live actions as well as building program sequences.

this is like lego technic.

Very cool Peter!

Thanks! See our kickstarter campaign for more cool examples of what is possible with Tio

Lego technic do have cool motors. Tio is different as our block has a built-in rechargeable battery, motor and LED ring. This means no wires and you can control and program multiple motorised blocks from a single smart phone or tablet.

Thanks! See our kickstarter campaign to find out more!
