I am looking to model my own models but have no space on my home computer to download any of the software I have found. My school has Inventor 2019 on their computers and I have been allowed to use this if I need to. Can I import .stl files from Inventor and is it a good modelling software? My requirements are extremely simple, I wont go past a few small simple objects, it needs to be free and I already have knowledge of how to use it. Can I use it?

Edit: I cant use internet based programs.

I’m not familiar with Inventor but I’ve been very happy using Tinkercad for basic modeling. It’s cloud-based so there’s no download required, and between the basic shapes and the user-defined shapes there’s tons of functionality for basic modeling.

Try grabcad.com is a great platform that allows you to upload files not modified but you can have a source formating for all kinds of files including solidworks

Inventor is a decent software which you can use for most of 3D modeling work. It’s not free to use though. If you are a student you may be able to download a student version which you can use for 2 -3 years.

For just some simple stuff you might try Sketchup. You can sign up for the free, web based one.

I cannot really use web programs, should have specified that before. I can also get inventor free, I am a student but I have no space what so ever to download any of the modelling programs I can get. Even after deleting most things!
