Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a double extruder 3D printer to purchase for my work. We are looking for high quality prints, easily/cheaply replaceable materials. The prints don’t have to be fast (I’ve heard UM3 is very slow) but it’s always a plus if it doesn’t compromise build quality.

From my research my short list is:

p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica; color: #454545}

UltraMaker 3 Extended

Raise 3D N2 Plus

BCN3D Sigma R17

We don’t print very large models, want the flexibility to do so in the future, so we would like a decent printing area. Please let me if you have any suggestions/recommendations. They are very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi @zahn1 your shortlist is pretty much the same one I’d suggest, and all three printers are decent machines, so I think the final decision is going to have to be yours. The N2 has the biggest build area by quite some margin, so that could be the deciding factor. If you’re going to be doing complex models, I’d perhaps also look for reports/reviews on how these machines handle soluble supports. The UM3 is apparently very good at soluble supporting, but I’m unsure about the N2 or the Sigma.

Raise N2 Plus is the best value by far. I would recommend getting the Bondtech extruder upgrade with it though to reduce the weight of the dual heads and reduce ringing.

The print speed is slow, as is with anything to get a perfect print.

You might also consider getting a single head printer and purchasing a Mosaic Pallete+ to complement it for multicolor printing and/or soluble supports printing.
