Hey everyone,

I work for a nutritional company and had some ingredient scoops printed in Veroclear material (RGD720: A Rigid Translucent 3D Printing Material). We want to use these 3D printed scoops to fill orders, meaning that we are scooping protein and other supplement powders with them and then putting that powder into the final products.

I have been told that we will probably need to coat these scoops with a food-grade epoxy or coating, but I’m not sure which kind of coating to buy. It would need to be non-toxic and have no smell. Can anyone provide any guidance on this, or whether we even need to do this?

Thank you!

@Christian_CAD @James_2 @key23d @AtomJaay @Kurt_7 Any ideas on this one?

@neal_white_18 - always depends on what country you are operating in!

There do appear to be some coatings like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EPOXY-RESIN-FOOD-SAFE-CRYSTAL-CLEAR-COLOR-STABLE-HIGH-IMPACT-COATING-24-OZ-KIT-/310123985135

I think there are also some polyester resins that are ok as I have some cast cutlery and bowls.

The same food grade latex coating that is suggested by the 3Dprinted NSFW projects would be applicable I believe.

Why not just print the part in an FDA approved material and forget about coating? See T-Glass by Taulman as one example, you could print this material on almost any FDM printer.

Cause fff is not food safe .
