Hello. I just got and setup my new Prusa i3 mk2 and I have been having quality issues with objects that I sliced myself. The objects that came on the SD card work flawlessly. I have printed Marvin, the whistle, and prusa logo with no issues. When I try to print objects that I slice with the prusa edition of slic3r, there are odd artifacts on straight lines as seen here: http://imgur.com/1YmksC6

Does anyone have a solution for this or something that I should try? Thanks.

Try Cura instead. I find Slic3r better for some prints, Cura for others. If I can’t get a good print with one using the other often helps.

The main reason you are finding that the models on the SD card print better is because the Prusa team has tweaked settings in the slicer for that specific model and material on a well tuned printer then exported the G-Code.

It will take some time to get used to the different settings and the effect they have on the print.

Trying other slicers is one thing to do. Many people swear by Simplify 3D.

Check out Cura is a wonderful slicer for the most part my prints come out pretty good. There also Simplify3D which is a paid slicer with a lot of features.

If your going to use Cura you can check your prints with the x-ray view there you can spot any holes from the slicer. Also check the resolucion settings this also affect the quality of the prints.

i left a picture showing a minion with two different resolution and both slice in Cura

My first guess is you printed with only 1 or 2 perimeters. Try 3.

Nope. 3 perimeters have been enabled since the start.

I tried cura with a test print, and it seemed alright. I’ll have to try a “real” print to get a better idea (i did a 10mm cube).
