If someone wants me to print an item off of thingiverse which is released under a creative commons non-commercial license, where do I stand legally? Since I’m not selling the item per se but just providing a printing service, maybe it can be argued that I’m not running into any problems, but this seems to be a grey area that I haven’t been able to find an answer to.

You might not find much info because we’re all figuring it out as we go along. If the person downloads the file and sends it your way… you are renting out printtime and selling plastic. You are safe for now.

Yeah that’s for sure. Nice to see the sentiments of others in the community to see how they’ve been dealing with the issue though!

Hmmm, indeed I have no clear anwer here neither… Sorry…

The files shoud be under free licence but you just get money for the work to print and material so in my mind its ok. If the peaple you sell it would make money with it, its not youre problem because on you hub (i think) its clearly noticed that you work under free licence. But i dont know exatly and also dont know if its ok that you prints get selled by 2nd hand. But the buyer also just pay for the work and material, so maybe this should be ok to!? Interessting theme.

Jeah, I’m into the same kind of thinking
