This is Day 2 of our Q&As with the 3D printer manufacturers featured in the 3D Printer Guide, dedicated to the Plug’n’Play category. This means today we’re discussing the Zortrax M200, BEETHEFIRST (@csilva) and UP Plus 2.

Own any of these printers? Is there anything you’d like to ask/ talk about with the manufacturers?

Are you interested in buying one of these 3 printers? Is there anything you’d like to ask the other owners/ manufacturers?

Then add a comment below.

Let’s Talk!

Hi @Fenix999, maybe you could share you experience with the excellent Beethefirst ?

What about you @Timiprint and @ArnaudLeBot, are you willing to share your experience with your Up Plus 2?

@RePro3D you have had great results with your Zortrax, can you tell us a bit more about it?

Best,

Julie

Hey @ShareMind can you tell a bit about your experience with Zortrax and what would you improve of it?

Thanks!

Simona

Hey @csilva do you plan to release a 3mm filament diameter version in the next future?

Then congrats for the design, love it!

Simona

Hello Simona,

Thank you for your kind words.

Our R&D Team is always trying to add new features and have new materials to improve and expand our user’s experience. In this way, the 3mm filament is of course a valid option. Next year we will have some great news, so we suggest that you stay tuned.

@jayceekeys any questions on your Zortrax?

Hi,

I don’t have much experience with the actual printer. But it does excell on the details and experience, really great printer if you don’t care about the setup… And the guys are really great.

Cheers,

Hi @Simona,

As you know , in addition to being a hub for 3D services , we are also a Zortax deale . We had already spotted these machines during the Kickstarting campaign, thinking they were very well constructed. I come from a long experience in CNC machines and I was impressed (the images) of the use of a screw Z Ball, very expensive. We requested to become distributors in October 2013, and renewed our request for almost a year. In August 2014 we were finally able to make our first order of 10 machines, without ever having seen them before .
Upon arrival , we realized that our expectations were widely surpassed by the extraordinary quality of Zortrax.
In addition to being one of the few machines to use a Z screw with recirculating balls, it is the only machine to employ a frame in just one piece welded aluminum. The rigidity is impressive. The XY movements using four guides instead of 2, to avoid the printing unit torsion. The All Metal extruder is capable of an impressive 360-degree temperature. The work plane can be leveled electronically. The surface of the bed is perforated , and does not require the use of blue tape or Kapton, Vinavil glue, hair spray , or other tricks to ensure adhesion of the model to the bed.
The supply is rated at 24 volts , and the heating is very fast .
The Arm Cortex 32bit is an excellent electronic, and the motors are driven with microstep 1/128, while many of the professional machines , also the ones that cost 3 or 4 times more stops at 1/32. This feature makes the M200 extremely quiet and capable of extreme accelerations.
The print quality is by far the best we have experienced , including over 60 models .
The bundled software is really simple to use. It is not necessary to specify temperatures, speed, thickness and dozens of other parameters as with common Open Source software. It ’ simply necessary to specify the material ( Zortrax ones are great ) , the thickness of the layer , the infill ratio and the angle for the supports to get perfect prints .
None of our customers regrets the lack of a bulky double extruder: support removal is extremely simple and the software Z - Suite allows you to change the filament to obtain color prints. Almost all the customers who own other printers with dual extruder have removed one of them, considering it more a source of problems that a useful device.
We are extremely pleased with the M200. While selling other products in the past we had many requests for assistance from customers, now our support was reduced to a minimum . I really suggest to anyone more interested in reliability and quality of the prints than experimentation, to consider this beautiful printer model.

I am having a great time with my afinia h480 (up plus2). I wonder if there are more hardware and software improvements and updates coming or not. Just wondering because I see that tiertime is coming with a new printer already.

Mi included a picture of my current little project.

Thank you and happy holidays!
