I am trying to print a case for my Raspberry Pi like this one here:

I have got some problem in desiging the front door. What do you guys think would work best: use a PLA skeleton with a flexible material and print it as a unique part, or simply split it in two different parts and create a seam?

Any replies are welcome!

Thanks

Well… ideally 2 parts is the easiest and probably the best, as it is done in the model from the picture (you can see that the printing orientation of the main red cover and the door don’t match). Ideally you can print it all in one piece with an integrated hinge. Design is more complicated and tolerances are much more important. I personally would suggest a 2 piece snap-in-place design, avoiding long thin plastic parts in the hinge.

Hi there!

The front door/port cover shown in the pictures above looks like it’s just a single piece that was printed in the shape of an L with some words on it. That approach should work fine for you too unless you want the covering to be more flexible. Do you want it to work exactly as it’s shown in the pictures, or do you have other features in mind for it?

Or is attaching the door to the main case what you’re having trouble figuring out?
