Hello !

I am new to 3d printing, especially when it’s about small parts. I have created a 3dhubs account some days ago and have problems with printing marvin.

The problem is especially about the retraction settings. If you use Simplify3d or have other advises for me please comment on this, I’m thankfull for every response. ( I’m using a leapfrog Creatr HS with their standard PLA. )

I took a screen grab of my settings for PLA. These work for me, but I’m still learning my through all the nuances in S3D settings… especially retraction. Hope it helps.

Also make sure to not use the default temps in S3D - it typically is way too hot for a given material - especially PLA. Took me close to a month to get everything dialed in - but we’re talking an hour a day max, 2 or 3 days a week.

First of all duplicate the model to get better result. Infill concentric , startpoints randomly, infill 35%, print quality high

lots of succes

Thanks everyone !

I will test your settings soon. I think it is very hard to get perfect settings and even if i find a problem it’s difficult to find the reason, too less coasting and too hot temperature cause similar problems. Especially since marvin gets printed slow there is very much time for the filament to heat up, i will lower the temperature and report how the results change.

Is the purpose of printing 2 marvins at a time that the layers have enough time to cool down ? If so then i’d like to know what speed you use (and retraction settings if you use simplify3d)

What temperature do you use for PLA ? I have the best results on 205-210°C.

195 - 220 depending on print speed.

I agree with the others on doing multiple marvins at once to help cooling - that or install a blower that blows on the nozzle to cool the material faster as it gets extruded.

I have a Creatr and have PLA temp on 193°C but this depend also on the manufacturer.

first when i buy from another manufacturer i make extrusion of 10 at each temp to decide for the best temp!

The Creatr HS that i’m using has a fan pointing to the nozzle, i let it run at 100% after the first layer, this is usually enough.

Hi Marius,

you can find the latest print profiles (fff files) on their support website:

They are working great for me …

Do u have any photos of your prints?

Hi!
On my Kossel Mini, with a Nema17 geared extruder, I can happily use a retraction speed of 50mm/s. With only 1mm, yours is a direct extruder I suppose (without bowden), would love to try one. : )
