Hey guys,

Have you been getting some nice prints from thingiverse already?

I thought it would be cool to have a space to talk about the prints you had to make and what problems you encountered. Here’s a full list of models that are already 3D printable and might be coming your way - Search Thingiverse - Thingiverse

Make sure to follow the tag of Thingiverse and you’ll be getting all the updates on models printed from there!

Today I’ve tried the Metropolis print by Ibudmen!

I printed it with Form 1 printer with clear resin. It required no support and was finished in a few hours.

The only thing that happened was that the antena on one of the buildings broke off :frowning:

But well, it’s still an extreemly nice print! I loved it.

So guys,

make sure to get printing and come back with some tips and tricks! This wasn’t an intricate example, but a really cool one!

Cheers

Nice print @Arnoldas! Any plans to use LED’s to light up the Metropolis?
And this is my first print from Thingiverse.
I’m tagging @Filemon and @Alex3DHubs in this post, so they can see the progress

Fritz Lang would be proud! NIce print, Arnoldas

Looks like I’m a little late for this post. But when I got my Replicator 1, I had a model already prepared for my first print. I have to say that when it finished, it wasn’t satisfactory and I began questioning my purchase decision. But (and a big one at that), with the improvements to Skeinforge and especially the release of MakerWare (with MiracleGrue), my machine has been printing like a champ.

You can see my first print ever on the left and a remake of the same model about a year later on the right in the pictures below. They’ve both gone through an acetone treatment. You’ll notice the first version is very “gummed-up” due to excessive supports. Now the default configuration sets the support material just far enough so it doesn’t attach to the model. This can typically be manually set, for MakerWare (or MiracleGrue) it is the “supportModelSpacing” property in the JSON profile file.

Enjoy!
