Some how between prints my Z-Axis on my Robo3d R1+ has gotten completely out of wack. I am using Simplify3d and am running an LCD Controller. The LCD allows me to move the axis’ back-and-forth, up-and-down. When the printer ran the pre-print calibration the x and y axis worked but the z continually moved up until it started missing steps and I had t shut it down. When I try to control the Z-Axis on the LCD it moves up but thinks its hitting the z-switch and will not move down.

Can someone help?

There can be many factors connected with you issue. Could you show us the start and end gcode and maybe a log during the calibration, maybe some settings.

Are you sure both switches are pressed?

Is your x carriage level? Make sure when you are pushing the carriage up to click the limit switches are clicking at the same time.

I would start by checking the wires to each of the Z end stops and make sure they didn’t come loose. Also make sure the switches are nice and snug up against the brackets so they are in the “closed” position at rest.

When you use jog controls in S3D to move the Z height up, does it behave the same way it did with the LCD controller?

Be sure that the carriage wire bundle isn’t caught around the threaded rod. Mine has done that. Also make sure it’s not catching anywhere else and that the limit switches are in the correct orientation. Move the z down and then by hand adjust each side until it barely touches the limit switch on each side. Then home it and bed level it once, twice, or even three times if you feel necessary.

I solved the problem! My nozzle crashed into the bed which separated the small bracket that triggers the Z-Axis switched. The bracket was rotated slightly to where the bracket didn’t just fall back on top. All I had to do was rotate the hex nut enough to allow the bracket to fall back down and trigger the switch.
