Boolean Difference with big STL not possible

Hello,

I have a problem with a Big STL file (moon surface). This STL file is not round. My problem is, that I need this file round.

When I use the Boolean Difference in MeshMixer, than I get this error message:

There are the two STL files for my work:

Moon: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qr06uwgmjeqmlbw/Mond_final.stl?dl=0

Cutting STL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/c6naj8t5vevf27b/Schnittk%C3%B6rper_Kreisring.s...

What is the reason, that I can't cut the edge from this STL file?

I be able to do in my computer, I thik your PC is not enough powerfull.

You can try tinkercad, but I never try any model like this size.

One thing u can do before, is try to reduce poligons in meshmixer, and try againg boolean

The file size is so big because there are so many polygones in this model. But I need this detailed model. To reduce the polygons is not the correct way for me.

When it's possible for you to cut the edge from this file, can you please send me this?

PS: booth of my computers are i7 computers. When meshmixer run the CPU needs roundabout 50 %.

Hi @Allan_Sche_Sar the most likely reason is that the model itself contains errors - intersecting faces, flipped normals, etc.  Have you run it through Netfabb to check for errors?

I don't know what Netfabb is. Do you mean the AutoDesk Netfabb software?

How can I use this software to check for errors and when I have errors to  solve these?
