Thanks VirtualBlocks,

But mine is a "I3 Prusa Ebay Clone", and it reads the .stl files as long as they are on a micro sd card in an sd card adapter.

I've tried many sd cards with the same .stl files on them and it will not recognize them, but any micro sd car seems to ok.

Best Wishes

Hi,

sorry it did not work for you, mine has been working great till yesterday when it would print part of the model, then stop.

I thought there may me a problem with overheating, but after trying it connected by usb cable (it worked fine).

So I checked the micro sd card and windows said it had errors.

I reformatted it (SanDisc 4GB as Fat 32) then loaded my model into Cura 15.04 and then went to File, save GCode, and picked my Micro SD card to save it to, and it is again working fine.

Possibly it might be worth trying another Micro SD card?

Hi,

I have had the same problem with my recently purchased "2017 UPGRADED DIY CTC I3 Prusa Ebay Clone".

Had all sorts of suggestions but the only thing that worked for me was,

I loaded a 3d object file (.stl file) in Cura 15.04

It then sliced it for me.

Then I saved it for SD Card Print to my SD Card, but I found that I had to save it to a Micro SD card inserted into an SD card adapter (ordinary SD cards would not work)

Give it a try, hope it works for you

HI all,

Just wanted to let you know that I can now print directly from the SD Card reader on my Printer.

I found that if I load my Model in Cura (Ver 15.04) on my PC, without the Printer connected.

Then after it has calculated the time and filament needed, I click on, file, save gcode, and select my SD card to save it to, it works fine.

But it has to be  a Micro SD Card fitted to a normal SD Card Adapter.

When I did this, as I said all is OK.

Hope this is of use to others, and thanks for your help.

Hi Alex,

I have been trying lots of things to get my SD card reader (on Printer ) to work.

And this now works for me.

First, I installed Repetier Host V 2.0.5

I loaded a 3d object file (.stl file)

Then I sliced it (it found the Cura Engine to do this)

Then I saved it for SD Card Print

And finally I found that I had to save it to a Micro SD card inserted into an SD card adapter (ordinary SD cards would not work)

Give it a try, hope it works for you

Hi Alex,

Thanks for answering, my Display was faulty when I got it (missing the third line on the display), so they sent me a new one.

But that did not fix the SD card reader either.

Will do the same as you and print from PC for now.

But I would like to fix it, if you ever do please let me know.

Many Thanks

Hi Alex,

Did you ever get your CTC Prusa i3 copy to print from the SD Card?

I have just bought one, and it is the same as yours, in that it knows the card is inserted, but when I go in the menu to the card, it says No Card.

So if you did fix yours I would appreciate knowing what you did.

Thanks a Lot

Hi suggy,

not sure what you mean, do you mean does it have two ribbons from the Display to the Control Board? if so it does, one for the SD and one for LCD.

This is the ebay item I bought,

Would anyone have an original SD card they could check to see how it was formatted (fat, fat 32, NTFS or what? also capacity)

Also what type of model files were on it.g code or what?

When I put my card in, it says Card Inserted, then when I go into the Menu, it No SD Card.

Thanks
