As a huge fan of Charles and Ray Eames, ever since I saw this model, I knew it had to be printed! So allow me to introduce you to my Eames House Bird designed by the talented Ibudmen.

Eames.jpg

I used the BEETHEFIRST with more or less the standard settings:

  • Resolution: high
  • Density: 60%
  • Raft: yes
  • Support: no
  • Filament: brown PLA
  • Print time: +/- 7 hours

If you look closely though you’ll notice 2 ‘mistakes’ that, in a way, make the print wonderfully imperfect:

  1. There’s a wing-like contour right where the wings should be, because of printing in mid-air (filament got stuck and noticed this after a few minutes). What a cool ‘accident’ huh?
  2. Also, did you notice the ‘punk effect’? Well that’s because of the rafts. Which we shouldn’t have used in the first place. Lesson learned, but still I love the added ruggedness to the otherwise perfect minimalist design.

Many thanks @ferkan for the help!

And how about you guys, what have you been printing lately?

Cheers,

Gabriela

Nice print @Gabs! I’ve been playing with the on-loan Ultimaker that @mifga and Ed left with us for the week! Thanks guys it’s been awesome to print on these. I ran the lump print below on the Ultimaker 2 last night with good, clean results. Yes, the print is actually a light fitting, but @ydg54ymail and @rhinoceros use them as pen holders.

Nice! Well, given that we couldn’t meet up physically today, keep that printer running and make more projects!

Thanks, Nikki! Love your new print as well, no matter its current use

And btw, the Gabs username belongs to someone else  I should’ve moved faster!

Oops sorry @gabriela3d! So what are you printing today? My coffee print for National Coffee Day was a … fail. I think today may be ‘Self Watering Pot Plant’ print day. I love the independence of a plant that can take care of itself

Haha love it! For me this week is all about Mr @ low-poly characters. I need something to brighten up my desk  Happy printing, Nikki!

I second this!

Really nice result! Love his mohawk hairstyle

Thanks, Pierre!
