I’m new to 3D printing, so please bear with me for my lack of technical terms. My Qidi X-One is clicking and not feeding the filament through the extruder. It is not clogged, because I can push the filament while holding down the black lever (the lever you use to insert the filament). Is the feeder too loose? If so, how do I tighten it? Anyone willing to facetime me to walk me through it?

If the extruder is “clicking” then something is preventing the filament from moving. When you say you can push the filament while holding the lever down, does it actually extrude? How did you determine there is not a clog?

On the X-one it is easy for filament to get stuck between the top of the barrel and the extruder drive gear. You will have to disassemble it to remove this stuck filament.

Use the load filament function from the printer control panel to load filament. First you have to preheat the extruder to the temp you will use for the filament. PLA would be a bout 200. Then start the extruder loading and insert the filament.

You’ll definitely need to disassemble the filament drive. Clicking means that your drive gear is stuck, likely because of excess filament. My X-One sometimes has a similar issue, where bits of filament will accumulate around the drive gear after about a hundred hours of printing. It makes the whole thing freeze up and start clicking until I clean it out. If you do happen to take apart the filament feed, and subsequently the spring loaded lever in order to get at the drive gear, be very careful. There are lots of really small parts in there that are really easy to lose, and the spring kind of forces the whole lever assembly to come apart when it is not screwed in to the extruder motor.

Let us know when you have attempted any solutions, and what happens.

Hello I have the same problem… how do I disasemble the extruder drive gear? Is there any figure to do that? Please help.

Very thanks
