Hi everybody, Is the first time I have troubles with the layer displacement with my zortrax M200. Does anybody has experienced that? Any idea to fix this issue? I printed with HIPS at 0.14mm layer thickness and maximum infill. The velocity was normal.

Thanks in advance!

Here a bit of the bad printing

Looks like the motor is missing steps. If you are not printing fast the most likely cause is that the nozzle is getting caught on something(your print looks pretty clean so probably not) or the motor is overheating. Try another print and touch the motor after a little while to see if this is the case and we can troubleshoot from there.

I touched the X and Y axes motor when I was printed and were little bit more hot than other times. This printing include many little movements. Probably that generated the lose of the steps. Also I already checked the screw pulleys and all are well tight. I do not know if it is fine to go to the drivers and calibrate them. Thanks for your help

I don’t have experience with zortrax equipment so I don’t know what kind of stepper drivers you are using. You want to lower the current and depending on the type of drivers this is done by physically turning a potentiometer on the board(you only want to turn a few degrees at a time) or digitally through the firmware. Heat-sinks/cooling helps as well.

I pray that its not this serious but can’t rule this out. Take it as a last resort… Good luck!

Thanks I will try everything the possibilities

You might try lubricating the guide rods with the included grease. Follow the instructions that came with your Zortrax on lubrication.

thanks fulgurite.

Were you able to solve this problem yarvix? I just had this layer displacement issue show up on my last print.
