What size of spools does the leapfrog creatr take their documentation is very sparse when referencing that…

Nearly every spool fits, John

So the normal 1kg rolls fit inside the unit and works on the turntables ok

You should consider just printing a simple spool holder, thick spools might cause the filament to overlap in that case it’s like you’d have a knot in the filament and most likely the printing fails at one point. A spool holder that stores the spools upright removes any of those problems. Cheers, Marius Breuer

yes, John

Hi John,

The largest spools I have of 1 kg are 200 mm in diameter. 2 of those fit easily next to each other.

If you however want to use a bigger spool you could make a spool holder which sits on top of the Creatr.

The original filament tube can be removed very easily and you can feed your filament through the top of the extruder.

On the CreatrHS you can’t feed the filament directly from the spool to the top of the extruder.

Because both the extruder motors are mounted stationaire at the backside of the machine.

I moved the spool holders from inside to the outside on the sidepanel.

See pictures in the attachment.

I printed a two fixtures (one for each side) and put in a M10 bolt with a plastic tube, nut and washers.

Works perfect.

Thanks for all the info I will be using this when my creatr gets here later this week

I’ve not seen any issues with the spools tangling, the stock spool holders seem to work okay… (souce: I worked at leapfrog).
