Hi.

I have been looking at printers for a while now but have become overwhelmed by the number on the market. I need to produce plastic ABS or PLA parts & have sub £1000 to spend on the machine. I do not want a clone of any form. Its for a work environment so I do not really want a kit form or anything that claims to be high spec but has lots of issues. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks Dusty

Have a look at 3d hub’s printer guide, theres more info on there than I could ever tell you!

Hi Matt. Thanks I did not see that before. Looks like the flash forge is the only one new in my budget. It may be better to hang out for a second hand ultimaker 2?

Could do… I have an ultimaker, they are excellent, but there could always be issues with second hand, no warranties etc. Also you said you want to do abs, and the flashforge has an enclosed chamber which is better for this. All reviews I’ve seen for the flashforge rate it very highly. I would probably lean towards the flashforge myselft, unless anyone else has any more advise??

The Original Prusa Mk 2 can be had for that price fully assembled (since you don’t want to make a kit). Very good quality output. Lots of material choices. The Ultimaker 2+ is more plug-and-play, though. The Prusa MK2 is the best for the cost.

Hi Rob. Don’t get me wrong the reason I don’t want a clone or kit is due to it being required for a company and on the budget I can’t account for the time to assemble as well. I am in fact trying to decide on a budget prusa type clone for my use at home. Thanks for the reply I will take a look at the present assembled version

Sorry if it looked condescending - it certainly wasn’t meant that way. I understand about wanting one fully assembled. I certainly would not suggest to the company that I work for that we purchase a kit. You want something that is as plug-and-play as possible.

I was also staying away from the American made printers since it would be much easier for you to get a machine and support from Europe.

Hi Rob. Thanks & no I did not take it that way. I value your input. Thanks again.

Out of interest the likes of the flash forge pro & makerbot 5 also seem to have good reviews. How do they compare to a prusa?
