All parts are deburred. Tightest achievable tolerance is +/-0.01mm and is dependent on part geometry.

3D Printing standards

Process Tolerance
FDM ± 0.5% with a lower limit of ± 0.5 mm (± 0.020")
SLA ± 0.5% with a lower limit of ± 0.15 mm (± 0.006")
SLS/MJF ± 0.3% with a lower limit of ± 0.3 mm (± 0.012")
DMLS ± 0.2% with a lower limit of ± 0.2 mm (± 0.008") for parts smaller than 10 mm in any dimension. ± 2% for parts over 10 mm in any dimension.

All parts are deburred. Tightest achievable tolerance is +/-0.01mm and is dependent on part geometry.

Manufacturing Partner assessment

Each of our Manufacturing Partners goes through an extensive onboarding process before being brought onto the 3D Hubs network, including:

  • 1

    Pre-vetting of in-house machinery, available capacity and quality management systems

  • 2

    Completing multiple test orders that are sent out to our HQ and assessed by our quality inspection team

  • 3

    Signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement with 3D Hubs to protect confidential information

  • 4

    Signing a Manufacturing Partner Agreement laying out detailed non-disclosure, confidentiality and general terms for their supply services


The performance of our Manufacturing Partners is continuously monitored by our Supply team to ensure that all orders are completed in accordance with the 3D Hubs Manufacturing Standards.

Standard Inspection report

Every order includes our standard inspection report, which verifies:

  • Critical dimensions (bounding box, hole diameters/locations, thicknesses and depths)
  • Quantity of parts
  • Number of parts inspected
  • Surface finish
  • Removal of sharp edges and burrs
  • Threads and tolerances

Full dimensional inspection report

This report is available for CNC machining and gives a detailed assessment of all critical dimensions including both actual dimensions and allowable tolerance:

  • Bounding box
  • Hole diameters/locations
  • Thicknesses
  • Depths

Dimensions are verified using a precision measuring instrument (caliper or gauge) and with a Coordinate Measuring Machine when required.

Material/mill test report

This report is available for CNC machining, and includes a verification of:

  • Material heat number
  • Material grade
  • Edition year and type of specifications met
  • Material dimensions
  • Mechanical properties
  • Chemical analysis
  • Heat treatment (if applicable)

Certification

We work with a vast number of ISO 9001-certified Manufacturing Partners. ISO certifications need to be requested before placing an order. Please contact your Account Manager or sales@3dhubs.com.

Our Manufacturing Partners also have the following certifications for CNC machining:

  • ISO 14001
  • IATF 16949
  • ISO 27001

Material certifications, data sheets, and test reports are available on request.

Design Verification Program First Article Inspection

Our Design Verification Program is a premium First Article Inspection. This is a standard procedure for all Injection Molding orders, and is available on request for CNC machining orders.

You can utilise this program to:

  • Test for fit in-house
  • Verify that our quality meets your expectations

It works as follows:

  • 2 sets of parts will be shipped to you for verification
  • Once the parts are approved, we will continue with full production

If you require any design changes, you can submit the modified models to us. Please note that any significant changes may result in an increase in price.

Resolving quality issues

Should your order not meet specifications, you will be able to raise any issues within 5 business days of receiving your parts. Our order fulfillment team will resolve these issues as quickly as possible, typically within 1-3 business days.
